I had the opportunity to spend an afternoon at one of my favorite museums, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. So, I took a tour to learn about some things that I had never seen, and then visited my favorite. I can't go there without sitting in front of this one. The expressions, the sizes, the vases on each side. And this time I looked at the girls, and thought about how well Sargent knew them, what might have happened just before they were told to stand still and pose, and wondered what the rest of their lives looked like. But ah, those faces!
